Video production in cloud

From long stream recordings to condensed episode

Here is the workflow I’ll apply for my content (VOD’s) on Twitch and YouTube:

  • Use Twitch s “Highlighter” tool to cut stream recording into several videos
  • Export all parts of a stream as separate videos to connected YouTube channel for more precise editing with YTStudio video editing tool

Most of my videos are created during long live stream session without detail script and little planing.

That can be time consuming to edit and reupload, for the useful parts of the stream to create acceptable and more popular shorter episode format.

As it is not rare that recordings of live streams have poor viewership, as being hours long.

More details on video editing tools

Twitch deletes recording of streams one week after the stream. Videos created with it’s “Highlighter” tool can be long in length and do not get deleted. Videos other than my streams I can not edit again. Twitch s “Highlighter” video edit tool lacks precision and can sometimes introduce glitches. So, it is hard to trim out short and silent (boring) parts of recorded stream. For that I use YouTube Studio.

More editing of the same video can be done after exporting it to YouTube channel from Twitch. With more precision and less artifacts. Editing the video on YouTube creates a new version of that video. So, edit tool here allows for trimming out unwanted parts. As I understand, it is not possible to cut – split a video into two or more videos on YouTube.

Creating “shorts” or “clips” can be done on Twitch and exporting them to Tik Tok or YouTube as such. Editor for clips (shorts) has a functionality to make tall (9:16, “portrait”) videos, even when video is recorder as wide (16:9). Here is a video showing how to do it:
