WHAT I’M DOING NOW?

Reviving the LGA 775 Era & Older Platforms

  • Gigabyte, ASUS, ASRock boards currently in rotation
  • PCIe generation hardware deep-dive coming soon

Reviving my assortment of older PC system mainly based on LGA 775 motherboards, learning about and experimenting with audio on Liunx using Ubuntu Studio.

Linux Audio Adventures on Ubuntu Studio

  • Heavy focus: S/PDIF input/output testing across hardware
  • Goal → seamless integration into multi/hyper-media production

More specifically, testing S/PDIF (SPDIF input / output) on various hardware.

My plan is to optimally incorporate all that in my multi-(hyper)-media content production.

Motherboards I deal with now are three from GIGABYTE (Intel CPUs), one ASUS (AMD II X3) and one ASRock also Intel based.

I’ll give it my best to post more content with details and specifics on that generation of hardware, I call it the PCIe gen.

AGP Zone – The Suspicious Retro Batch

  • Waiting AMD-based AGP motherboards on the test bench
  • Suspected issues: worn-out caps and tired components
  • Half-dozen+ ATI AGP GPUs ready for inspection

While there is also a line of AGP motherboards (AMD based) waiting to be checked out on my work/test – bench. I’m suspicious about motherboards with AGP as they are quite worn out,
faulty capacitors and those kinds of strained components.
And around half a dozen or more ATI AGP GPU cards of the era.

Pentium / PII / PIII Retro Systems

  • Small collection of classic Intel CPU + compatible GPU setups
  • Early-school hardware still waiting its turn

That’s not all. There’s also a batch of old “schoola” Intel Pentium and Pentium II / III CPU based systems. Along with gen compatible GPU (graphics cards).

Monetization Reality Check

  • Still zero from streaming
  • Website ads keep the lights on and content 100% free
  • No paywalls, no gating — everyone can support via ads

Simply, still no moenys in streaming for me. While publishing content on my (our community) website does make money and keeps my content free for all. Selling advertising space on webpages is what that brings money in and helps keep the “lights on” in the SLATE.

Making any kind of content has a production cost. That’s just fact. And the simplest of the ways for me to monetise is to allow advertising on my website.

That way everyone can participate and contribute in supporting Mali Vir Eddy OF Studio Lab At ed_oga.
No content gating and pay walling, exclusions. I hope no one is left out without the means to contribute.

My Mission – Transparent Retro + Workflow Sharing

  • Authentic insight into real workflows
  • Practical knowledge on personal computers (especially retro)
  • Open contribution to the community effort

I consider my “mission” to provide authentic and transparent insight in my workflows.
And mostly share and contribute to the effort of sharing practical knowledge on working with and on Personal Computers, RETRO stuff included.
