Generic USB Gamepad on Windows X fix

To get my 20 yrs old USB 1 generic gamepad to work on Windows 10 I did next thing.

I located my “game controller” (USB Gamepad) icon in Windows > Control Panel > Devices and Printers. With right mouse button clicked on it I select “Remove Device” and confirm. Unplug the Gamepad. Plug back in the same USB port.

And it started fully working indicating with red LED light on Gamepad. Without that the sticks would not work, only left direction buttons.

This is a workaround for “old” USB devices that have issues with “modern” mswindooz. In case of this Gamepad, a simpler solution trying to solve this issue:

Device USB\VID_XXX&PID_xxxxx\x&xxxxxxx&x&x was not migrated due to partial or ambiguous match

Now, this issue will reoccur next time I turn on this PC to load MS Windows X. So, the above steps are required again. And I’m not 100% sure is this reliable solution. Like, is a Windows restart required or uninstall device drivers.

If you are looking for a solution for external USB drives or flash card and memory card reader. Usually the case is that the “Logical Drive Letter” is not assigned to it. That is required to use it in file explorer. And the Windows “tool” “Disk Management” fails or refuses to assign drive letter to it.

To fix that I had luck with free MiniTool Partition Wizard, to assign drive letter to my MicroSD flash card with USB Card reader.
